1. To ward off dementia.
2. Stay in touch with my roots. No such thing as overworking with Koreans. Rest? Psh. That’s what the grave is for.
3. You’ve saved me money on therapy. I didn’t have to go this year.
4. I don’t want to clean. Who in their right mind would choose mopping and dusting over THIS?
5. It’s my one rightful obsession. I don’t drink, smoke, go on shopping sprees, or get pedicures. You gotta give me sOmething.
6. I can be as anal as I want and people like me for it. Go figure.
7. I’m repressed. Parents didn’t let me stay out at night. I get to party ’round the clock as the comments roll in.
8. I hand out advice on stuff: blogging, life, men and women. And all these people think I’m for real.
9. It’s my only chance at keeping up with technology. I’m terrified to tweet, annoyed with Facebook, have yet to go near an iPod, hate texting.
10. I haven’t had this much fun since…since…
*Slump* Pathetic. (Time for my next pick-me-up post.)
All good reasons, I say! And at my stage of life, I particularly liked #1. Must keep grey matter healthy!
Grey matter…lol.
Xyz “Shades of grey”
=)
Odd how many of those reasons I share.
Perhaps men and women are not so different after all? =)
Very solid and fun reasons, I might be a computer tech. I never have really touched a tablet nor do I text, because they are expensive.
I have not touched a tablet, either!
Loved number 2. Indeed, that is what the grave is for….
Seriously.
^ ^
Ha! Too funny – and true too 🙂 I love that rest is for the grave, although I am a big fan of rest in my life (apparently I’m not Korean).
LOL No, not Korean.
Great list D. Fun, clever, modest and cranky all at once. Maybe we need to get out more. #9 is similar for me and let’s not even talk about #10! XD
Ha ha ha I love the cranky.
“Maybe we need to get out more.”
You have this gentle way of jabbing-encouraging.
He he: woo hoo on #10!
(Here’s to our next pick-me-up.)
part of being a Gemini- odd mix of opposites. 🙂
yes to pick-ups, I mean pick-me-ups XD
LOL
Freudian slip.
(Trying to swat away the image of you on the corner picking up eh hem.)
you could be my lost-at-birth twin sister… except my mom and dad are not Korean.
Well, that gives it away, then. SHOOT. I also wanted a sister.
See? You couldn’t stay away from blogging too long this season, Mag. *grin*
🙂 Hope to be blogging more frequently soon. One more exam on Monday…
Even more frequently?!
Ha. I rest my case.
Rest is for the grave?? lol
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
lololololol… 🙂
It’s all about being connected – and holistically speaking too 🙂 Seasons greetings, Diana. Great post.
“holistically speaking too”
ALwAys.
*Bow* Greetings!
Love this! #8–what!? I give out your advice to everyone! No need for them to ask; I just give it. 🙂
Roar….! Err…that’s ok: they think it’s legit.
Great reasons, but it’s also a time sink. Does it give you much time to actually live?
Well, where living requires my hands-on presence, I’m taking advantage of the break with our homeschool group this month.
But to answer the ques another way, I have never felt so alive in just this way as I have these 21 months.
As a time nazi, I also write and plan a lot of the posts midstream during the day – off the blog. This might leave you thinking that doesn’t really let me LIVE but I decided it beats the hours (and hours) I spent in the kitchen before the blog.
Besides, it’s how I met you all. Can you blame me?
=)
A time and grammar nazi. Interesting 🙂
I fill every c r e v i c e of time.
=O
Huh: I can’t let time BE. I have to work it, the way I work husband and son and .. guests. LOL.
Great, now no one’s going to guest author.
Oh, your list really made me smile, woman [thank you]! …Today was my first time visiting your site [thanks to you as well], and it’s been real—[in the good way, of course!]. 😉
Ha ha ha. Thank you.
Diana
Number 1 is reason enough! But is it too late for me? Eek.
As long as you’re not in that grave, it’s never too late.
Great post. Thank you! 🙂
Aunty Uta
Ha ha. Thx for the support, AU. =)
“It’s my only chance at keeping up with technology. I’m terrified to tweet, annoyed with Facebook, have yet to go near an iPod, hate texting.”
All this applies to me very much, Elizabeth, as well as quite a few other things you mentioned. This post really speaks to me! 🙂
A U
A lot of your reasons I think I could have come up with as my reasons too! I find this quite amazing. Thank you for your honesty. Keep enjoying your blogging! You say:
“No such thing as overworking with Koreans. Rest? Psh.”
Maybe I too often aim at doing a bit of extra work. However I found out that at my age (80!) it does not work so well with me anymore. Whether I like it or not, I have to take frequent rests and overall have to slow down a lot. We learn as we get older and “wiser”. Ha,ha
Aunty Uta
You are wise indeed to listen to your body.
(Whisper: I really should as well.)
“8. I hand out advice on stuff: blogging, life, men and women. And all these people think I’m for real.”
Say what??? Woman???
When I was 13 years old the 100m sprinter Ben Johnson tested positive for steroids at the Seoul Olympics and that was the first time one of my heroes let me down. Today when I read number 8 on your list was the second time…
How could you??? I knew I shouldn’t have spent all that time making a shrine to you in my spare room… I’m going to destroy it right this very moment…
ps – I’ll take a photo of it first, just in case.
Now you know not to trust us Koreans.
Send me the pic and I just may post it.
(All proper, brow furrowed: with a link-back of course.)
*He scrambles to build shrine*
LOLoLoLLL
I’m right there on most of these! To a degree all of them!* No iPods, just a modern smartphone (for this comment). If only I had people I would want to text with, and not relatives I’ve never been in touch with…
*Pathetic.
Not pathetic. You have the makings of a great blogger…see all the nondistractions you have. =)
Rock on, blogging goddess, rock on.
I am technology illiterate, but am very adept at things like EBay, craigslist, etc. Goes to show you excel at what interests you!
Love,
E
I could never for the life of me get in on a bid on that ebay. Reveals your competitive side.
=O
Good reasons all. For me, no matter the intent, the effect seems to be to amuse a few people I have never actually met and to piss off some relatives who tend to take everything personally. Also good reasons in my opinion.
Ha ha ha. I like the p.o.ing.
You’re not anal. I see you as a person who feels that a job should be done correctly or why bother?
THANK
you.
That’s how you stay on my A list, btw.
*grin*
OK. 2, 3, 4, 5…..and possibly 9(I am a computer science graduate, go figure:p) and 10. We have a LOT in common D. Also another huge reason for me is that I think I am finally doing something productive. I think.
” I am finally doing something productive. I think.”
LOL You THINK? You THINK twice? Real-blogger material KNOWS. Reach farther into the Force within.
(If you’re having trouble, I’ll tell you. Your stuff is good. You’re being productive.)
LOL. Honestly, I know I am doing something productive. But I just can’t get over whether that’s just in my head or is it something others see as well. Ok that barely made any sense. But since you also agree then I should just zip it. Right? 😀
I said I see it. Don’t make the Godmother repeat herself. Now gO blog in confident, tired joy.
^ ^
Hmmm, quite a few of those relate to me, too! Thanks for sharing. 😀
Funny seeing how many – across age and culture, and through gender – relate!
The dementia reason made me laugh!
Came to me right away.
Lol. #7. Hilarious!!
And I too am annoyed with Facebook.
*high five on the antiFB*
1,2,3, & 10 i can relate to.
fab post.
He he. The therapy’s huge. And I’m so glad to know it’s been a blast for you, too, S. =)
Diana
Enjoyed reading this. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Appreciate your time. =)
Sounds like good reasons to me! 😀
=) Thx.
Brilliant post, D. Love the humour. I agreed with every. Single. One. “…I get to party ’round the clock as the comments roll in.” That made me laugh and I can relate to this in some way. There is nothing like generating a discussion, touching and connecting others with your words 🙂
Ha ha. Fun seeing how people everywhere in different stations and phases are relating. =)
Appreciate the feedback,
Xxx

I truly love how raw and real your blog is… You truly are an inspiration in so many ways!
I truly relate to your work ethic… Thanks for your motivation and inspiration!
I have nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award!
If you would like to accept please follow the link below! Keep up the great work! Dr. Dee~
Appreciate your thinking of me and the golden word, of course. I need to put back up the No More Awards, Thank You I had on the sidebar.
Congrats!
Diana
Oh dear, I fear #4 is my guilty sin…I HATE cleaning. Always so much blogging to catch up with…. 🙂
No kidding.
Sooooo many good reasons to blog! Did you also find that blogging gives you more and/or other things back than you perhaps had expected when you started? Anyway, I’m glad I found you out there, and I think that what you say here speaks to many of us! Have a great weekend!
“that blogging gives you more and/or other things back than you perhaps had expected when you started?”
ABSoluTeLy. =)
I’m grateful you’re here and it’s always a pleasure to visit. =)
Diana
Writing = therapy! Love this.
That and the comments. I have a treasury of wisdom people around the globe have left me and other readers. Blown away.
😀 I’m with you in 9 of those 10 reasons… I’m not Korean 😀
I can overlook that. *Brows furrowed, clears throat*
As long as you have the unhealthy work ethic.
😀
checked!!
HA!!!
*V.I.P. member stamp on hand*
Now you’ve got me thinking . . . just why DO I blog? You’ve got some good reasons, and you made me smile.
Aw, there you go again. Why don’t you do your post on the topic? =)
Diana
Ha ha ha, you also make people laugh 🙂
Thanks. =)
Appreciate the ongoing support.
Diana
Great list, similar to my own!
“He captures memories because if he forgets them, it’s as though they didn’t happen.”
― Donald Miller, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years: What I Learned While Editing My Life
The quote actually speaks of something I’ve thought about. Caught a fascinating NPR clip of someone who didn’t have longterm memory. The implications were tremendous. Thanks!
Diana
No prob! There was also a recent thriller released in theaters this past Halloween titled “Before I Go To Sleep” that explored that topic as well. I haven’t seen it, though I almost did.
Part of why I started my blog was to re-stimulate memory association connections in my brain that were damaged years ago when I underwent ECT at my request as a last resort to treat suicidal ideations and to actually purge myself of some of my memories! Sounds like something from a movie, but my life is not actually that interesting – clever writing hides that fact!
I’m stronger now, and have recovered a lot of what I lost, and it is less haunting. My blog truly does partly function as a form of free therapy for me, and as a sort of memory tree to help me trace back my roots!
FAscinaTing.
LOL–love #8 🙂
*looks up at ceiling, all innocent and everything*
Thank you for your honesty and continue doing what makes you happy!
Appreciate your reading. =)

Your moments to shine are so many, as your posts really do bring smiles as well as those great moments to contemplate. And now I nod ever so slightly at #10, ** sigh… **
Ha ha. I got a grand sigh out of our WordPress Artist Extraordinaire. Will take.
=0
A demented, anal, escapist. Sound like great reasons to me, D. 🙂 –Curt
HA! You’re really good at this summarizing thing. Your English teachers musta been pretty pleased. =)
But you did forget impatient misanthrope – from the other posts.
I can see the impatient, D, but never a misanthrope. 🙂
Ha ha ha can see the impatient.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Great outlook. Thanks.
=)
Amen to the reason “who would want to mop and dust instead of writing!”
He he.
Hahaha. I blog (even though I don’t have time for it) to vent my frustrations!!! That probably come through a bit too much at times. But procrastination is as a good excuse as any!
I’d vent if I were stalked and all that other stuff! DraammA!
Xxx
You are singing my tunes, D!
I didn’t budget for therapy this year and will always chose writing over dusting. xo
I’d meant the comments, too. How the discussions have been mind-blowingly insightful and therapeutic. Now I can use the money I saved for quality antiaging cream. ^ ^
Thanks to you all. =)
There’s a lot of truth and humour in this post. Great post and we can all identify with some of the reasons I’m sure. Thanks Diana.
Interesting to see many could relate, C. =) Thanks.
D.
I totally recognize many items on this list. I guess the blogging tribe has a lot in common.
Yep. =) Aren’t the connections awesome?
I love all your very valid reasons Diana! Your ‘therapy’ is very insightful and helpful to many here, so in essence you also give therapy (you may want to add this on your list 🙂 ) I would never have believed that you are technologically challenged, I thought you are superwoman? 🙂 Wishing you a very happy holiday season to you and yours. xo
“I thought you are superwoman?” Now you know. Ha ha ha. As to the season’s greetings, same to you and yours, dear Deb. I’m grateful you’ve walked this journey through with me, and hope you reach higher ground in the publishing landscape as well as the places of the heart in the coming year.
D.
Thanks Diana for your inspiration and your kind words. God bless! ❤
Amazing post! I nodded at more than a couple of those reasons.
Happy holidays!
Thanks. =) Wishing you a wonderful season.
HW
Haha! I like the tongue-in-cheek number 8.
Who said I was joking?
^ ^
