  1. And in this moment of unvarnished honesty
    heard between the notes,
I delay my very burial, and smile.

    1. I was inviting rose poems but that is just lovely, J. Last line is very neat. Thank you.

      1. oops sorry.

Not much of a poet I guess 😉

(go ahead and delete as not to throw off your thread, )
        no offense

    2. Wow! Loved this!

  2. Nice Diana!
    pink roses
    the smell
    full of love

    1. Thx for adding to the train. =)

      1. All aboard! XD

      2. I meant train not as in engine but like that of a wedding or fancy dress. =)

  3. A blue rose
    From my grandmothers garden
Makes me think of my youth
    And endless days of summer.

    1. Yes, I learned there is such a thing as a blue rose. Love the memories. Thanks, JC!

  4. Lovely Diana, I don’t usually write poetry, but here goes:

    Dog rose
    Like vintage china
    Cupping morning dew

    1. I’m smiling that I eked out a poem from you, Andrea. I love it. (Hm…what else can I get out of her?)

      1. Not a lot at the minute, so it’s a good think that one just emerged out of thin air 🙂

    2. Andrea Stephenson said: “I don’t usually write poetry, but here goes:

      Really? Wow.
This is excellent, you should definitely write more poetry… Carry on.

And of course Diana you know that I know that you know that yours is also excellent and therefore you don’t need any encouragement, a writer will always write, regardless.

Hope all is well with thee, don’t worry, I’m not going to offer a thousand word critique like the last time. Take care…

could the ‘i’ be a ‘we’?

Oooopsss… Is that the time, must dash, bye.

      Mark

      1. So you did decide to blog again, Mark. And revamp your page. =) That is the beauty of blogging. Infinitely versatile. Thx for sticking around.

        D.

      2. Well thank you very much Mark.

  5. All roses are meant
    To represent different things
    Unfortunately I can’t remember
What any of those things are.

    1. lol okay this is nice 😀

    2. It’s on – you got it, Ladies and Gents – Google. =) Ha ha ha.

      1. Oh yes, we got Google for that!

  6. I fall on the bed of roses
    Covered in it’s heavenly scent
    It takes me away,
    To the thoughts of…
    You.

  7. A little mirror,
    But untrue,
    For that beauty is something
    That inside my soul
    Has never been.
I am in awe of a nature
    Resplendent in perfection.

    1. You won’t believe whom I was thinking of…yes, for real. =)

I like the untrue mirror. Thanks, D. (I think you show up every summer. LOL.)

      1. Seriously?
        Amazing!

      2. Yep. I have to say this happens a lot with me and ze readers here. But for your long period of quiet, that IS something. =)

  8. Hedgerows bound in w.ild roses
    scent our Summer rambles

    1. J, was that period in w.ild on purpose? I like it. =)

What a lovely string of words. I’d post it, if I were you. 😉

      1. Ahhh, that must’ve been the Typo Muse 😉 Your rose train and its creative travellers inspired me 🙂

      2. Again, I liked it. I hope I don’t steal it. =)

      3. Is that stealing, or just sharing? 🙂

  9. The rose fought back
    and scratched my skin.
    I dug it up.

    1. 😀

    2. Now THIS I like. Not many roses that fight. Thx.

  10. Scratches I minded not
In the bounty of soft petals
    so light to the touch
    its caress
    a heady sensation for my
    love seeking mind

    1. No, scratches we mind not when we love. Thank you.

  11. Like a scarlet thread against the barren earth, the rose waves bravely against the gravestone, beautiful reminder she is not there in the ground, but risen.

(PS Lovely thought for a thread.)

    1. Hey, you should take off with the imagery, the rose against the gstone (I would actually remove the -ly even though that’s grammatical). Wonderful.

  12. Yellow noses tickle my noses,
    they make me feel sweet,
But they like to be neat,
So I’d better get out the hoses.

  13. I’d write you a story
    of petals white and sweet
    but I have no clue
    of what this might be
    for Roses and Peonies
all look the same to me.

    1. Some peonies do look awfully
like a close cousin or sister of
the rose. Thank you for the
      confusion you humbly disclose.

      😉

  14. Here’s a final stanza to complete your poem:

    Rising
    Like Venus from the sea
    A woman complete.

    1. They were three different poems I was playing with, though they arguably made for a love chronicle (starting w/ orange roses along a wedding aisle). I thank you and am pleased I can eke out a poem from the writers among us who resist tackling poetry. I would just shy from pinning your piece to my dress (train…long end of dress), as I would never see myself as Venus – ha ha ha ha – and I don’t believe a woman has to rise from a bed of roses to be complete. 😉 But that is quite a picture you paint.

  15. explosions
    of frozen passion

    secret scents
    of hearts surrendered

    anguished solitudes
    of love dreamed,
    love lost

    celestial celebrations

    colors of roses

    1. Woah…you’re cracking fireworks on my blog. I love how you ended it. =)

  16. It was so much fun to give my one yearold grandson fresh liliacs; to see his face as he stuck them to his nose! The dog, Sissy wasn’t as happy to have them shoved in her nose – Adrian likes to share!

    1. Ha ha ha. Precious.

  17. Rose –another name in Chinese:
    “fragrant flower”
    Translate my dreams,
    Eyes closed,
    Deep in memory.

    1. I liked your last poem, Holisticwayfarer:
      Sexily suggestive.

      1. He he. I’ve been going for suggestive. That’s enough. 😉 Thx.

    2. Jean! You should add poetry to your blog!!

      1. 🙂 I have some Christmas haikus.

  18. orange roses
    Vibrant & strong

  19. Bed of roses
    Two feet walk
    Imagination

    Soft petals
    Sharp thorns
    For eternity.

I really don’t do poetry. But it seemed fun to participate. You got me, D 🙂 Beautiful poem.

    1. Ha ha ha. I got several of you who shy away from writing poems to go for it. Thanks for jumping in, M. Nice ending. They were three poems that arguably go together. =)

      Xxx
      D.

  20. war roses
    the two
    full of surrender

    🙂

    1. Ha Haaa. Thumbs up.

    2. You should post this – not just reblog. =)

      1. : smiles :

      2. i took your advice.. how about that huh? https://illapse72.wordpress.com/2015/07/14/mos/

  21. Reminds me of my observations in Thailand where many water cisterns have rose petals floating on them.

    1. Interesting. Why do they float there?? Oh, maybe they fall off the trees overhead?

      1. No they are deliberately put there. The Thai people are a beautiful artistic people.

  22. I love the orange rose – poem and photo.

    blue rose of questing
a soft kiss void of sadness
    I seek adventure

    1. Ah — kisses lead the way to adventure… =)

  23. I have never seen orange rose…nice one..thanks for sharing 🙂

    1. There’s even a blue. =) Thx for reading, Alisha.

  24. A surprise for my birthday,
    Vivid red full of grace,
Captured my heart with his gesture,
Since my husband dislikes roses of any sort.

    1. He WOULD do that. =)

  25. Roses. Lovely but ordinary.
I’ll take orchids. Mysterious and complicated.

    1. =) Orchids ARE exotic.

  26. Yellow roses
    Subtle and shy
    Still convey a lot
    Give them a try!

    1. Ha ha ha ha. Sweet. Thanks.

  27. an orange flower ne’er rhymes
    disconnections sublimely are…
    without apology.

    1. Hope you post it…. =) Great closing.

  28. Yellow rose bouquet
Gift from one too shy to speak.
    Married him one day.

    1. You should post this. Yes??? =) Terribly sweet.

  29. no matter the color
    delicate layers
    offer a free fall
    strumming

    Love this, D

    1. Ha HA. Strumming. interesting as always, you are, my friend. =) Thx.

  30. Beautiful !!

  31. You must be joking , Diana
I know not of any rose, other than the imaginary sweetness
Of the poetic words of the Holistic Wayfarer.

To be sure the above makes no sense at all to me but I was trying to write as most of the others. I really don’t care for this type of poetry and I like poems that make sense and that rhyme.

    1. LOL.

The poems here were not very cryptic but you’re such a dear
      for decorating the train when
      you’d much prefer things clear.

      1. Yes, that’s my peculiar self. You make me smile, Diana. Really!

  32. On a rainy day
Soft translucent Petals beneath my feet.
    Trodden into the mud.
    No more.
Yet return to the earth anew.

    1. Such is life. Thank you for the poignant thought, K.

  33. Roses of Cream
    Makes me beam
    Their buttery hue
    Fulfills my dream!

    1. =) If only my dreams fulfilled that easily.

  34. Yeah, maybe I got carried away there, but they sure make me happy! 😉

  35. Thank you for sharing these beautiful words with us. 🙂

    1. Appreciate your being here.

  36. Petals plucked, laid
    over closed eyelids
    allow for rose-colored dreams.

    1. Ah…I know that was for moi. I look fwd to my dreams tonight… =) Thx, J.

  37. I am not a poet and I know it. See, told you…;)

    1. LOL. Humility always wins others over, though. =)

  38. fuscia petals
    withered, worn
    you stole from the bush
    and now all is gone.

    1. LOL stole. It would be so much fun to get together… =)

      1. 🙂 Yes, Diana!

  39. scent of red roses
    hopes, dreams of forever love
    rose broken and tossed

  40. Roses or Rings,
    I am confused,
    Roses I choose,
The ring hidden in them 😇

    1. Ha ha ha. Take the ring, girl. LOL. But that’s smart to want both. 😉

      1. 😇😇😇😇

  41. virtual roses
    the screen
    full of possibility

  42. Velvet petals,
    beauty unfurled.
    They make the garden
    a better world.

    1. Aw…indeed, C. Thanks.

  43. The rose teaches us
    that when the heart
    is a vortex filled
    with the enticements
    of perfume, honey,
    and molten gold,
    no soul can resist
    falling into it…

    <3

    1. Sounds like Richard has known his share of fun and (eh hem) romance. 😉 Thank you, K. I’ve been enjoying your revolving avatars. =)

      1. Neither R nor I is especially romantic in the popular sense, but we certainly know how to have our own versions of fun and romance together—19+ years of practice just make it the more enjoyable. 😉 He took the latest avatar shot, and I suppose my grin there tells you something about how I feel about my guy. 😀
        xoxoxo!
        K

  44. Diana! Been holding off on commenting because i wanted to write something in response but have been challenged getting to my own writing at the moment so wanted to say I thought your poem was very sensuous and romantic. I envisioned a warm bubble bath with rose petals everywhere and a pair luxuriating in romance. xox

    1. =) They were 3 diff poems that happened to go together in this chronology. Thanks for the thoughtful effort! I don’t expect you to keep up the commenting w/ the Big Day drawing near. Been thinking of it..and you. =)

  45. I think of you “sub rosa” –
They used to say the Latin, now they speak onomonopoetically,
    “hush hush” –
    you called me soulmate
    you called me guardian angel
    I spurned you
    my thorns tore us apart
now I search for you under a hundred different names
in ice-blue eyes of every morning glory
I fear for your fate, my first rose
please tell me that the darkness never claimed you
please tell me that gardeners never found your topiary
I was the only one who understood your tattoos
I was the only one who fought their herbicide of ordinary
I was the prairie blossom with the deeper roots.
I think of you “sub rosa” –
I am ashamed to have rediscovered love too late.
Did you make it through the fire, Steve?

    1. “now I search for you under a hundred different names” The ache.

I love how you ended with a name. =) Thanks, Lyn! (Was thinking of you, in fact.)

  46. You offer me a yellow rose – betrayal breeds it’s name

    1. Oh!! The rose of friendship.

      Et tu, Brute?

      1. The noted rose of jealousy.

  47. Roses hold your heads up high,
so i may catch a glimpse of your thorns.

  48. Reblogged this on HarsH ReaLiTy and commented:
Where did you go? Give me the keys to your blog and I’ll take care of it while you are away! lmao! 🙂 -OM
Note: Comments disabled here, please visit their blog.

    1. LMAOoooo. Mr. Wayfarer just finished saying the same thing – in so many words. He filed a complaint as a subscriber to the Holistic Wayfarer for MIA. (As though he doesn’t know I’ve been tied up taking care of his son ’round the clock.) He told me to just STOP the homeschooling, stop everything and blog again. (Still laughing at your comment.) Thx for the reblog, J.

    2. It’s been a hard 7 days. The Mr. told me I need to get back on the blog to all my buddies so I stop scowling about all the !@#$! people on this side of the screen. Feels good to laugh again, Jason.

  49. Heavy scent of perfume
    washed over me
I saw the rose you first gave
the days when we were bashful
    in love and admiration

(A micropoem I wrote for Twitter a week ago)

I think your poem is beautiful by the way! Orange roses makes it so different, very appealing, and quite a well written mature poem.

I was just wondering if I could publish this in the November/December issue of a literary magazine of mine? It has four issues published so far (every two months). There are no printed copies or any money involved for myself or the writers. So it’s free for anyone to read, and the aim is primarily to help promote writers on websites and blogs from all over the internet. https://thewritinggarden.wordpress.com/

The copyright remains with the writer and I always include a link back to where the work was originally published and also any other social media links you’d like me to include (please let me know which ones – if you have any). I can list your name of choice, or your WP profile name – or both.

If you would be interested in allowing me to publish your lovely poem please check out the magazine and let me know. But if you’d rather not, don’t hesitate to say no, I really won’t mind.
    Suzy 🙂

    1. Thanks, Suzy. I appreciate the kind feedback and offer. I like the “bashful” in your poem, btw. Sure. I think I have other poems here that are better but you may publish it. You can just use Holistic Wayfarer for the signature and my site holisticwayfarer.com. I imagine you can lift the photo, too, if you’d like, as I use only public images. It may have been from photobucket. I haven’t opened the page at the moment to see the caption.

      Warmly,
      Diana

      1. That’s great Diana! Absolutely fine, I’ll use Holistic Wayfarer with your blog link. I do have long term plans of revisiting quite a lot of the writers who have already been published in the magazine, so I’m sure I could seek out another of yours in the near future, if you’d like that?

I have an art image in mind for your poem from the artist whose art will be featured for the front cover/header in September. He seems very keen to be involved with his paintings. I try to use artists and photographers I can credit with links, someone who would benefit for being highlighted, because the magazine is about art and photography as much as it is writing. But thank you for the offer, I do sometimes find it impossible to find the right picture and have to resort to a stock image, or something similar.

Issue six will be published early November, so it will be a while before you get to see it, but when it’s completed I’ll get back to you here with a link. Thanks very much Diana! 🙂

      2. If he can manage an orange rose, that would be super. I appreciate the labor of love, SH. =)

      3. He already has one – I’ve just got to arrange it with him, he’s a brilliant artist, and he likes poetry too. Do love it when artists and photographers get into the poetry too! 🙂

      4. Thanks for the artful matchmaking. =)
