Flourish

There’s no shortage of cool, wealthy people to work with in a world abundant with opportunity, says Daniel Priestly. The serial entrepreneur, as I’ve seen, has yet to prove himself wrong. I recently got to sit down to lunch with two-time Emmy award-winning television producer Rushion McDonald who helped mastermind hit game shows like Family Feud, architected Steve Harvey’s multimedia empire, and has written for A-List Hollywood actors. The face-to-face filled in the picture of a beautiful soul I had glimpsed in our brief interactions, a man who doesn’t consider himself too important to listen, observe, and encourage those he meets outside his vast celebrated circle. Rushion cared more for a story I shared than an insight from Daniel Priestly I quoted. I am reminded of all that is good and possible in the world and wish you a fresh season of flourishing, my friends.

    1. I normally take 50 shots in any one sitting and end up tossing every one. I was very surprised to find myself not cringing at the ones with Rushion. Had to be his beautiful, loving energy. I was running out the door earlier when you spoke of days long over. I wasn’t sure if you meant your trip or, more likely, our sweet ol’ days of banter and helpless blogging. A great deal has changed in ways I did not see coming, but as long as we’re both out here, I will continue encouraging you on in your flourishing (between jabs). *Big bday hug*

  8. Good to see you continuing to reach out, change, and be so positive, D! It seems like forever ago when we first met on WordPress. Maybe it was. I just got a note from WP on 15 years of blogging. Grin.

    1. Congrats, sweet friend! You made me take stock: you had apparently stuck that staunch foot out here a year before me. Fifteen years aren’t forever to Curt Mekemson, Time and Place Traveler. You’re plowing right through each one.

  9. It is really love to see another post from you again, D. It sounds like you are taking on new things as they come and meeting people who inspire you. Beautiful photo of the two of you there and seemed like every bit the great lunch. Sometimes it’s the short moments like these that inspire us the most, and we are most thankful for. ‘… change is the journey.’ I so agree, and I’m on the path of that of late. Wishing you well 🙂

    1. Thank you, Alan. I can feel the heartfelt support. Getting to know him and being seen and heard by him was a gift. I’ve been knee-deep in a writing workshop I’m leading for high schoolers. Loving it. I hope it’s a good summer, sweet friend.
