Just that small example has made me realize that I was blessed in the womb to arrive with no need of lip color. I had no idea. I would be suicidal if the choices were so complicated for me. To add insult to injury, after you went to all that trouble, I think your choice looks marvelous. You are a gorgeous woman and I would be very disappointed if your wonderful husband didn’t agree with me on this point.

It is painful, the logistics of hue and shape of accessories (silver or gold today?) and the lines (brows to match the design of shades). I am amazed I can pull this off. And I simply hate that I do.
LOL! Tiger mom bristles if I call her Yobo. She’d probably kick me if I called her gorgeous. But in all seriousness this complicated system of femininity is beyond me. I only have two color of shoes and I get busted out pretty hard if I wear brown when fashion rules dictate black. That’s with a 50% chance of always getting it right. hats off to the ladies that pull it off every day! 🙂

Also, about the menz, shhh, don’t tell anyone, but you can arrive sans make up wearing a flour sack and they still think we’re beautiful. 😉
Now THAT part is true. How twisted is this? It’s the men – esp the one we should most wish to please – who barely notice the nuances and effort (for me, labor). It’s the other WOMEN who notice. Sigh!!

Wow. Where do I begin. I have always loved makeup but the thing that ticks me off the most is when I find something I really love and then when it’s time to replace it, it has been discontinued. Heartbreak. And lately I have discovered I seem to be sensitive to almost every mascara out there. My husband wouldn’t care if I stopped wearing it, but I care. It’s the Italian in me, what can I say? 🙂
Ah – the Clue. Italian. I may post this someday: I was mortified when, in response to my pajama look outside one recent day, my husband informed me that even sanitation workers (the women) take care to wear lipstick in Italy. Self-respect. Bella. That hurt below the belt.
I wanted to purchase a little finishing powder (don’t ask me what it finishes…) Matte or sheer? Full coverage or light? Do you use foundation or not? Cream to powder or just powder? Never mind, I have a headache….. That lip color looks really good on you, by the way.
Laughing and…about to cry. Eh…I don’t wear foundation (that implies layering the face!) but I confess to the powder – GASP. It’s been triple digits in CA and I can’t go around looking greasy. (Thx for the thumbs-up. =) )

I gave up on lip color long ago. I eat lipstick off within the first 10 minutes. Pointless. I am content with minimal makeup…grew up in a family that believed and professed openly …and I quote…”Only ugly women need makeup”.
I have settled on eye shadow, mascara and blush. I use mineral foundation in the winter when my color turns ghostly. The freckles I hated growing up are kind of special to me now. Most women are much prettier with a scrubbed face than they believe. 💕

Maybe I should write the post about the challenges men face … like the fact that when it comes to business attire, our choices are so ridiculously limited. You know how monumentally tired I am of slacks, dress shirts and ties? And if we wear anything out of the ordinary — a shirt or tie with a splash of outrageous color — the comments we get.

So funny that you’ve posted on this as the exact situation presented itself to me a couple days ago. I haven’t worn color on my lips since my little one was born. But now as she’s about to start Pre-K funds to daycare will be cut in half and those funds can finally be spent on little things I’ve gone without — I can once again be nicer to myself. Oh the joys and sacrifices of single-parenthood are endless!
I don’t like lipstick as I prefer lip-gloss instead but my brand discontinued certain shades I liked, then there’s the price issue — especially if it looks good in the store then I get it home and it doesn’t work as well as I’d hoped. That’s $8 – $10 (won’t go over $10) on a product that will just sit there unused when I could have used that cash on something else.
So there I was staring, and checking and perusing the lip color section of the makeup aisle and in utter frustration I gave up and left! I only had a few minutes to find something that would undoubtedly take about an hour so I will try my luck another time.

Aren’t you a great Mom. (I realized I’d stopped carrying purses since giving birth. The diaper bag slowly was replaced by the cooler that carried all his homemade food.) Someone else mentioned the banes of our favorite shade being discontinued (of course! Business trends turning over inventory like leaves). Don’t let the disappointing color sit there gathering dust. Yes, yes, yes. It’s so hard to choose make-up that we like for us ladies. I’m not one for wearing lipstick but am on the hunt for the perfect foundation. It has to be matte, but doesn’t dry out my skin. It has to be orange or yellow toned rather than pink or peach. Oh, perhaps the moisturiser on my face has something to do with how the makeup on my face looks like. Ugghhhh. It’s such a pain 😀

(I keep my make up routine quite simple + am loving the Burt’s Bees organic tinted lip balm–it adds a natural boost of color, nothing fancy though.)
Another blogger mentioned the B Bees balm. (Didn’t see this thread becoming a hotline of recommendations LOL.) As to being told what to do….gee WIZ. He prefers it that way, keeps his life even (enviably) simpler. And he hates it at the same time. LOL.

I do not find the prayer derogatory as I did when I first heard it. Let’s see: makeup, accessories, PMS, sexual abuse, being married off without consent, laundry by hand and financial dependence on husband (back then)…You don’t have to be a scholar to add it up. Even God decided to be a man!!

I don’t wear any make up now and attempted to pull off some deep red lipstick maybe two weeks ago… and as it turns out I actually prefer myself Onatural … with zero make up on I feel most like myself and most comfy 🙂

But contrary to what I was told, it does bleed after a few hours. (Lipstick, not the lipliner I’d wanted.) Now, to go hunting for the matching liner, right?!!! Bordering it – the upper lips, esp – with a thin brush kept it from bleeding. Gee, just shoot me.
hahaha yeah this is the first time I’ve heard you talk anything remotely close to cosmetics. But I will seriously check this out. Bummer about the bleeding though and I can’t do a brush for lining I just use pencil.

Today I found a list of organic brand makeup which I pinned to Pinterest and I was going to go through it to see if I could find the lipstick you mentioned the other day. This is the first year when asked what I wanted for my birthday I thought “hmm I want some cosmetics for fall.” So my brother surprised me with cash (this is huge from a Scrooge like him) to make my purchases. Believe it or not I makeup really doesn’t rank high on my list of priorities but I’ve been wanting to make a gradual switch to organic products. This is superb!!!! ~S..

Ah yes, finding makeup that isn’t full of toxins is difficult. Finding ones that are nontoxic and in the exact color you have in mind is even more difficult! I agree with the other comments that this is a great color on you!
