It’s the greatest, most unassuming symphony, the human body at work. We make about two million new red blood cells every second, replace our stomach lining every two to nine days, can regrow a quarter of our liver to full size in weeks. A quadrillion (1015) DNA repairs heal the tens of thousands of lesions that blight our cells every day. In continual overhaul, we literally, viscerally embody death and rebirth, faithfully shedding in the deepest places what do not serve us. We even trade in our skeleton every 10 years with bones that had renewed at a rate of 10% a year. Maybe this is why we often take stock every birthday decade, prompted by more than rising digits. Even as the color of our hair and the strength of our skin surrender to time, we are given a new framework to build the next decade upon and to stand a little taller.

In triumph over a willful winter, the Georgian spring here beckons, the landscape outside and in my mind flush with green and promise. And so I release all that keeps me from the best version of myself. I will rewrite this page in ten years or less because to hope, to reach is to change. And change is the journey.

  4. I got this enlightenment a little later in life than you
Being a mom is no the only way to live, but i was obsessed so till my sons all turned twenty.
Then , I realized that there is something more I could do .
I started writing . Articles in the first leg and then to poetry all in alla.

    1. Appreciate the comment right out of the pages of your significant experiences. Thank you. Best. =)

  5. What an awesome blog you have here. I do hope to visit soon. May the Lord’s blessing and peace rest upon you and all your life endeavor in the name of Jesus Christ.

    1. I believe we’ve spoken. I’m the one who’d asked well, what if we are NOT good enough? The gospel is that we indeed are not. Which is what makes God so great.

      -)

  6. Thanks for liking my post. Its much appreciated.

  7. Thanks for liking my post. Its much appreciated!

    1. Thank you for the compliment. The visit was a pleasure as well. Keep shining.

  9. I love finding interesting places like this to wander around in. I think I’ll be spending some time putzing around your blog from time to time. This is my favorite part of the net – the chance to look at things through a completely different and unexpected pair of eyes. Thanks for being here.

  10. You keep re-discovering yourself, that’s what makes life interesting.
Mine’s other way around, grew up in a town where streets are shared by cows & people, flew half way across to glob to find a career in big apple.

    1. I grew up in the Big Apple. Went to the no. 1 high school in the City. =) NYC certainly is interesting…..? Thx for reading.

  11. Hi. Thank you for visiting my blog last week. I’m sorry it took me so long to return the visit.

    1. Too busy to keep track. =) Thx for the conscientious follow-through. I appreciate your time.

  12. hello Diana, my beloved sister in Christ. I blessed for read your written. I like your writing style. Deep and a bit poetic. God bless you and family, and God be with your holistic journey 🙂

    1. It’s a lovely post. I really liked it, S. Thanks for the blessing and the follow. Hope you enjoy it here.

      Diana

  13. Dear Holistic, Your approach is so needed in today’s world. It seems to offer a blend of reality, aspiration, pleasure in living here and now, and yet a defense of motherhood (I haven’t hear that, yet, but I seem to sense it coming). Where would the world be without mothers, and fathers, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, neighbours and friends. You seem to have the talent to tell it all. I’ve done it all, more or less, but now ask Spirit, why?
    Love,
    Jean

    1. What a heartwarming, thoughtful greeting, Jean. While I am deeply grateful for readers like you who actually look at me through the writing, encouraging you to ask questions about your own life is what matters to me. Thanks so much for the blessing, Jean.

  20. I remember reading this a while ago, when I didn’t know anyone here and I wanted to know you more, after this stroll. I know our journey has countless miles to it, but I’m glad it’s begun 🙂

    1. Thanks so much for coming through again. =) So glad we got acquainted. You’re awesome.

      1. You are too 🙂

  21. Hi Diana, thank you so much for commenting on what I believe to be one of my most controversial posts to date. I love being real, taking it as it is. I also love to tell stories that impact, influence and inspire as many people as is necessary. I have come to the sad conclusion that it is not always easy to reach out to a large group of people but have grown to understand the value and importance of changing a person’s world. That makes a huge difference. The effect is holistic, which is why I am honoured and privileged to have a landed here, and if you don’t mind, will make myself at home.

    1. Thanks so much for the thoughtful input and the follow. Do feel free to join in our discussions.

    1. Thank you for the follow. Keep up the beautiful blogging. =)

      1. Thank you , so appreciate your following!

  23. What a lovely, emotionally stirring article. Motherhood consumed me, too. Oh my! Now I find, somehow, that my three children in whom I poured my life are grown and starting their own lives. When they were little, it never crossed my mind that they would someday move away from home and me. I suppose my journey has been a bit of a Moses journey, as well–the “training ground,” “humbled,” and “readied.” Parenthood isn’t the universe; but it’s certainly preparation for the next 40 years of our lives. I’m Still trying not to hold my breath.

    1. I see you relate. So glad we can share in one another’s journey, Pamela. Thank you dearly for the follow. Hope to keep talking.

  25. OK: Here are my “Two Gold Cents”: The more I read here, the better for my writing (Yes, I am using).
But certainly in a good way. Your writing is… words fail.
Your writing moves. Moves me to improve.

    1. I owe you change. You left me three gold pieces.

To make your words fail would serve only me in the commendation. But that I have somehow moved you to push yourself in your work is my chief reward.

I can’t thank you enough for what you’ve expressed.
      Diana

  26. I’m looking forward to looking around your blog. Enjoy your weekend.

  28. “Little did he know God had all the time in the world and he was on training ground where he was humbled and readied to shepherd a nation out of slavery – in the four decades ahead. No coincidence that a human baby is full term through 40 weeks.”…
you just brought tears to my eyes…so true.
Wayfarer you just showed me the way!
    Thanks a ton Diana 🙂

    1. Thanks so much for sharing what hit home, Pamela. And for the follow. Would love to keep talking.

  39. This is fantastic. I love this, I am feeling the same way, trying to balance mothering but also finding my way out, since you can sometimes get lost. I also am trying to find my way back to Christianity, I’ve made some steps, but pray that God can help me. Really beautiful, glad we connected through OM’s blog!

    1. K, glad you can relate.
      And you said Christianity:

  40. I had just clicked the link in your post on Harsh Reality. I’m getting tired – it’s 11:45 pm here… I’ve got to come back to this blog! (clicking follow) I can relate – I’ve been thinking similar thoughts for the past 2 days in my over crowded 2 bedroom apartment – with a 6 week old, a 19-year-old, and a 7-year-old (with special needs), and an attention demanding hubby (with ADHD) We’re preparing to leave the city for a more rural setting (I’m looking forward to some space to be me (not just a mom.) Loved the post… better get some sleep now 🙂

    1. =) I so appreciate your taking the time here so late. Get some rest, Julie. I got you. Talk more.

  42. Hello Diana,
Your blog is like an amazing journey, fascinating, captivating and always new…with every article you’re revealing another part of your beautiful self. You said that all you have to offer are your words…for me it’s very much, because your words are an expression of your heart and you’re generously giving them, touching and changing lives…
Thank you for visiting my blog, you can’t imagine how special i feel and how honored i am because you liked one of my posts. It means more than words can express.

  43. Wow! Beautifully written, and it speaks of my journey, probably a number of women’s journey. Where does being a mom end and I start or pick up again being me? Thanks for stopping by and liking a post of mine, it is encouraging to me that you would do that. DIane
